Facial Feminization surgery (FFS)

FFS is commonly pursued by transgender women or assigned male at birth (AMAB) non-binary trans people. It can appeal to cisgender women as well.

For some transgender women, FFS is medically necessary to treat gender dysphoria. It can be just as important or even more important than genital forms of sex reassessment surgery thus helping trans women integrate socially as women.

These surgeries are tailored to each person and can encompass up to every aspect of the face and neck. FFS mostly focuses on bone structure and nose shape. Soft tissue work, such as face-lifts and neck lifts, can be incorporated when necessary.

Note: FFS candidates should wait until the bones of their skull have stopped growing before undergoing FFS. The way to determine if the bones of the skull have stopped growing is to take successive x rays of the lower jaw and wrist bones to make sure that bone growth has stopped.
